We believe it is necessary to eliminate violence and poverty in young women's lives in order to bring about equality. The first step in eliminating violence is to recognise the multiple forms of oppression that girls face. We believe in the importance of adult men and women supporting young women in their unique struggle for equality. When girls are given real resources and opportunities, they are more than capable of bringing about social change. We therefore believe that girls must be centrally involved in the construction of policies that impact their lives.
